This is to revise and replace TRP 1612-B, dated 29-Sep-2015. This revision is to:
1. Add Note to Reimbursements, and
2. Update SRTs.
If additional information is required, contact your Cummins Warranty Operations Group
Leader.

Description
This TRP is being issued to address plugging of the EGR coolers and EGR valves resulting in
FC 1896 and/or FC 3382 on ISL9 CM2350 Transit bus applications. This TRP authorizes the
replacement of pistons and valve stem seals, and if required, updating the ECM calibration.
The EGR cooler and/or the EGR valve are not covered under this field action. It must be
troubleshot and repaired separately.

Action
In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:

will be covered Regardless of coverage status, and
must be on the attached ESN list, and
must be an ISL9 CM2350 Transit Bus application, and
must have FC 1896 and/or FC 3382 active.

After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:
NOTE: Please refer to the ISL9 CM2350 Service Manual, bulletin 4310787 for detailed
instructions.
1. Please refer to Procedure 000-009 in Section 0, to steam clean the engine.
2. Please refer to Procedure 001-054 in Section 1, to remove and reinstall all 6 pistons from
the engine.
3. Please refer to Procedure 002-016 in Section 2, to remove and reinstall all 24 valve stem
seals.
4. Please refer to Procedure 019-032 in Section 19, to inspect the ECM calibration revision
history. Update the ECM calibration if a later revision is available.
5. Operate the engine and check for leaks.
6. File one claim for all labor and parts cost associated with this TRP.

Material Disposition
Materials removed as a result of this field action must be scrapped.

NOTE: Two hours of SRT 99-901 is allowed for piston and ring assembly, cleaning of the
oil pan flange and other miscellaneous tasks.
NOTE: Two hours of SRT 17-400 is allowed ONLY for Hybrid busses.
NOTE: All SRTs are OPTIONAL. Select ONLY the appropriate SRTs for the repair
performed.
