Subject: INNER FENDER REINFORCEMENT KIT

Models Affected: ALL 2011-2014 MV-1 VEHICLES

BACKGROUND
A Inner Fender Reinforcement Kit has been made available for increased support of the inner
fender. A small crack may develop at the edge of the inner fender corner typically in vehicles
operated under “Commercial Fleet” conditions.

WARRANTY
The provisions of the normal warranty policy apply, with appropriate authorization.

INSTALLATION TIME
The recommended installation time is 1.0 hour. Labor operation 10M011.

PARTS
Kit PN SP002182 can be obtained through the Dealer Communications System (DCS). Order one
kit per vehicle.

PROCEDURE
1. Remove both front inner fender liners as per the service manual procedures.
2. Clean the area on the inner fender rails where the braces are to be installed.
3. Position the braces as close to the rear edge of the inner fender rails and still lay flat against
the inner fender rails (See Figure 1).

Caution: When drilling through the drivers side inner fender rail the underhood
harness is at risk of being damaged by the drill. Use a drill stop or scrap piece of wood
to protect the harness from the drill.

4. Using the brace as a guide, drill the holes with a 3/16” drill bit (See Figure 2).

5. Apply the 3MTM 08115, 2 part epoxy to the brace using a sufficient quantity as to have a full
bead around the perimeter of the brace after installation.
6. Install the braces using the supplied 3/16” rivets.
7. Allow the epoxy to cure, then use a spray primer to coat the body in any areas where the paint
was damaged.
8. Install both front inner fender liners as per the service manual procedures.
