Update Prior to Sale: Door Interior Release Handle Lamp Operation

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Updates are limited to the extension of the expiry date.
Situation: A limited number of vehicles within the listed VIN ranges may not have the required power feed to
the lamp above the door interior release handles located in each door casing.
Action: Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles within the listed VIN range that are in their control
and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action
detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold vehicles should have this performed as part of the Pre-Delivery
Inspection (PDI) process but must have it completed prior to vehicle handover to the customer. Affected vehicles
already in the hands of customers should be updated at the next available opportunity.

workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code 'Q336' together with the relevant Option Code from the
table. The SRO and part information listed have been included for information only. The Option Code(s) that allows
for the drive in / drive out allowance can only be claimed if the vehicle is brought into the workshop for this action
alone to be undertaken.
This program is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 20 September 2014
closure date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
1. Turn the side lights 'ON'.

2. Check that the small white lamp at the front right
door interior release handle aperture is

illuminated.

3. Carry out step 2 to the other three door interior release handle apertures / lamps:
If the lamp is working on all the door interior release handle apertures, turn side lights 'OFF' and release

the vehicle; no further necessary.
If the lamp is not working on any of the door interior release handle apertures, turn side lights 'OFF' and

continue to the next step.

4. Modify only the harness shown in steps 5-8 that
comes from the door casing harness, not the
body harness.

If required, remove the front right door trim

panel for access only (see TOPIx Workshop
Manual, Section 501-05).
Disconnect electrical connector (C3B-C2).
Locate wires in pins 15 and 17; cut each wire
50mm back from the connector. Strip wires 15
and 17 on the connector side and twist the
exposed copper together. Place the splice into
the splicing tool, put the wires into the splice,
and then crimp all together.
Strip wires 15 and 17 on the door trim
harness side and twist the exposed copper
together. Place the wires into the splice which
has already been crimped on the other side.
Crimp the door trim harness side.
Wrap the splice in two turns of fleece tape to
secure.
Connect electrical connector (C3B-C2).
Turn side lights 'ON' and check that the white
LED is now working.
Turn side lights 'OFF'.
Install front right door trim panel (see TOPIx
Workshop Manual, Section 501-05).

6. If necessary, repeat step 5 to the front left door electrical connector (C3A-C2).

Modify door casing harness:
If required, remove left rear door trim panel

for access only (see TOPIx Workshop Manual,
Section 501-05).
Disconnect electrical connector (C37-C2).
Locate wires in pins 15 and 17, cut each wire
50mm back from the connector. Strip wires 15
and 17 on the connector side and twist the
exposed copper together. Place the splice into
the splicing tool, put the wires into the splice,
and then crimp all together.
Strip wires 15 and 17 on the door trim
harness side and twist the exposed copper
together. Place the wires into the splice which
has already been crimped on the other side.
Crimp the door trim harness side.
Wrap the splice in two turns of fleece tape to
secure.
Connect electrical connector (C37-C2).
Turn side lights 'ON' and check that the white
LED is now working.
Turn side lights 'OFF'.
Install rear left door trim panel (see TOPIx
Workshop Manual, Section 501-05).

8. If necessary, repeat step 7 to the rear right door electrical connector (C38-C2).
