Steering Wheel Volume/Mode and/or Voice Activation Control Switch Not
Functioning Correctly

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: The steering wheel Volume/Mode and/or Voice Activation control switch may not be functioning
correctly.
Cause: This may be caused by a poor ground.
Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

PARTS:

NOTE: Vehicles with heated steering wheel do NOT require steering wheel replacement.

NOTE: Vehicles with non-heated steering wheel require: one (1) steering wheel (non-heated); one
(1) In Car Entertainment (ICE) switch (LH); one (1) steering wheel harness; and one (1) Touch Screen
overlay harness. The right-hand ICE switch MUST be retained from the old steering wheel.

NOTE: Vehicles with heated steering wheel require: one (1) In Car Entertainment (ICE) switch (LH);
one (1) steering wheel harness; and one (1) Touch Screen overlay harness.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
1. Remove the Touch Screen (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 415-01).
2. Remove the steering wheel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 211-04).
3. Remove the Instrument Cluster (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 413-01).
4. Remove electrical connector C2LS41 (Green) from
the module steering wheel.

NOTE: Note terminal size as they are
different at each end on the new overlay
harness.
Using pin-out tool 418-595, back out the wire from
cavity 15.

6. Insert the overlay wiring harness into cavity 15 of
electrical connector C2LS41 (Green).

7. Tape back the now redundant electrical connector
to existing wiring harness.

8. Route the overlay wiring harness, following the
existing wiring harness.

Tape to existing wiring harness at 100mm

intervals.

9. Route the wiring harness behind the Instrument
Cluster mounting bracket and secure with tape in
three places.

10. Route the overlay wiring harness, following
existing wiring harness to the Touch Screen.
Tape back to existing wiring harness at 100mm

intervals.

11. Locate electrical harness connector C2MC02A (Grey) from the Touch Screen.

Using pin-out tool 418-595, back out the wire from cavity 13; insert the overlay wiring harness in cavity

12. Tape back any excess wire - including the
redundant wire - to existing wiring harness.

13. Install the Touch Screen (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, Section 415-01).
14. Install the Instrument Cluster (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, Section 415-01).

NOTE: Vehicles with non-heated steering wheel require: one (1) steering wheel (non-heated); one
(1) In Car Entertainment (ICE) switch (left-hand); one (1) steering wheel harness; and one (1) Touch
Screen overlay harness. The right-hand ICE switch MUST be retained from the old steering wheel.
Continue to step 15.

NOTE: Vehicles with heated steering wheel require: one (1) In Car Entertainment (ICE) switch; one
(1) steering wheel harness; and one (1) Touch Screen overlay harness. Continue to step 16.

15.

NOTE: Vehicles with non-heated steering wheel only:

NOTE: Make sure that the harness is correctly routed and clipped into steering wheel retainers.

NOTE: The right ICE switch MUST be retained from the old steering wheel.
Install steering wheel harness and ICE switches (new left-hand; transfer right-hand from original to new) to
the new steering wheel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 211-04).

NOTE: Vehicles with heated steering wheel only:

NOTE: Make sure that the harness is correctly routed and clipped into steering wheel retainers.
Install steering wheel harness and ICE switch (new left-hand) to the original steering wheel (see TOPIx
Workshop Manual, section 211-04).
17. Install the steering wheel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, Section 211-04).
18. Test all steering wheel control switch functions.
