Vibration or Noise When Braking, All Vehicles Except Routan (U.S. Only)
Technical Background
Vibration or noise when braking may be due to brake disc corrosion protection which has not been completely
removed by normal braking, or surface rust built up during transportation.
Note:
This Technical Bulletin only applies once at PDI. Please note that vehicles in dealer inventory should be
maintained per the recommended 30 days maintenance procedure to prevent excessive rust build up.
Tip:
For newer vehicles, within the first 6 months or 6000 miles (9656 km) of vehicle service, refer to brakes system
specifications in Elsaweb under: Chassis -> Brake Systems -> 00 General, Technical Data -> Specifications to
determine brake service required. For vehicles beyond 6 months or 6000 miles (9656 km) of service, this bulletin
is information only. See Technical Bulletin, instance number 2015173, subject matter “Brake disc, Pulsation” for

• Remove wheels, disassemble brake calipers and remove brake disc. See appropriate Repair Manual for
vehicle you are servicing.
• Paint mark or scribe brake discs for reinstallation (Left/Right).
• Paint mark brake pads for reinstallation (Left/Right, Inner/Outer).
• Inspect all brake components for damage from outside influences.
• Using micrometer, measure brake disc thickness. See appropriate Repair Manual in ElsaWeb for minimum
