SUBJECT: Claim Processing Guidelines A/C Repairs for Vehicles Equipped with
Sales Code - XFC (R-1234YF)

PURPOSE:
To announce requirements for processing claims requiring the use of the uNew" R-1234YF refrigerant
and oil for Warranty (W), Mo par (M), or MVP (F) Claims.

TIMING:
Effective Immediately

BACKGROUND:
R-1234YF refrigerant and oil has been introduced to Chrysler's air conditioning (NC) system and is
identified by sales code "XFC". All dealers have a new R-1234YF NC machine to properly service
these vehicles. The machine is designed to provide the technician with a print outto track the usage
of the refrigerant.

Service Managers and Warranty Administrators must review the following requirements with the
appropriate dealership personnel involved in A/C repairs.
Before an NC repair is started, the Technician must verify which NC system the vehicle is
equipped with . Vehicles equipped with R-1234YF (sales code XFC) will follow this process .
o A copy of the repair detail slip printed by the A/C machine must be attached to the RO .
o Claims with quantity of 3 or more ounces will reject for part cost excessive and will
require RA authorization . Claims submitted into RA must include a copy of the repa ir
detail slip printed by the A/C machine to support the quantity of refrigerant requested .

Part Entry Details
Refrigerant Details:
Mopar part number 68224028AA represents 1 oz. of refrigerant and is used on claims for
reimbursement.
• Part quantity: dealers are to bill the amount of refrigerant used for the repair, wh ic h is the
difference between the recovered amount and the charged amount as shown on the print
out from the NC machine as shown in example below.

Oil Details:
Mopar part number 68224150aa represents 1 bottle of oil and is NOT to be used on claims for
reimbursement.
• Part Number: NPN with part description as "1234yfoil"
• Pricing: enter price of 1 oz of oil. To determine the ounce price, use the price of the
container, divided by number of ounces in the contatiner. $3.16 is the 1 oz. pricing (at the

time of this bulletin)

Refer to the A/C system manufacturer's service manual for oil specifications .
Oil measurement is a manual process and can be found in the A/C Machine User
Manual.

NOTE: 1234YF oil can be used in a 134a repair; however 134a oil CANNOT be used in
1234YF repairs.
A/C Machine Set Up and Unit of Measure Setting: Dealer must set up their machine by
entering their Garage Data, by following the instructions instruction in the A/C machine user
manual Section: Set Up, Garage Data . The A/C machine's default setting is kg, this setting
can be changed to oz., by following the instruction in the A/C machine user manual Section :
Set Up, Unit of Measure.

R-1234YF A/C machine print out provides:
• Date and Time
• Ambient Temperature and Humidity
• High and Low Pressures
• Amount of R-1234YF Recovered
• Amount of R-1234YF Charged
• Purity of refrigerant and % of air
• Vehicle Identification Number
• Repair code
