Subject: Reasons for License Request Denials

Listed below are reasons for ODIS Service license request denials. If a recent license request was
denied, please review the information below and ensure that all criteria for a valid request are met.
Note:
Avoid license request denials by following the ODIS Service Installation Phase 1 – Preparation &
License Request instructions document exactly as specified.

1. License Request for Unauthorized Device
To ensure optimal performance, ODIS Service diagnostic software is authorized for use on the following
VAS diagnostic laptop and tablet devices:
 VAS 6150A, VAS 6150B & VAS 6150C diagnostic laptops
 VAS 6160 & VAS 6160A diagnostic tablets
These devices must either have been updated from Windows® XP to Windows 7 using the AoA supplied
DVD (only), or come loaded with Windows 7 from new.
License requests submitted from VAS devices other than those listed above or submitted from
commercially-available laptop or tablet devices are denied.
2. Missing or Incorrect Hardware Key
The AoA license review and approval process requires that the device’s hardware key is generated and
entered in both the Hardware key AND computer designation fields in the eShop license request form
prior to submission:

License requests submitted from dual-franchise dealers must contain the hardware key in the hardware
key and computer designation fields for both brands.
License requests with hardware key and computer designation entry fields that are left blank, or contain
data other than the device’s hardware key, e.g.: a “computer name” or personal information, are denied.

3. One License Request Form with Multiple Hardware Keys
To ensure accuracy, licenses are issued on an individual basis based on the automatic generation of a
diagnostic device’s unique hardware key during the eShop license request session.
The default “Product” quantity must remain (1) and additional hardware keys from other VAS diagnostic
devices must not otherwise be entered into the eShop interface:

Individual license requests containing multiple device hardware keys are denied.
