• Customer complains that when the vehicle is driven, various warning lights illuminate, sometimes with
restricted functions in the electrical system.
• The complaint occurs with another complaint regarding the MMI 3G+ infotainment system.
• After an ignition cycle, the condition is gone and therefore, it may not be reproducible.
• Sporadic DTCs may be present for communication errors, restricted functions, or missing/incorrect messages.

Technical Background
If there is an issue with the MMI 3G+, the gateway (data bus on board diagnostic interface) module, J533 (address
word 19) tries to maintain the communication to the MMI. The load on the module is so high that other messages
on the bus systems cannot be processed any longer during the ignition cycle.
As a remedy, modified software that does not communicate to the MMI 3G+ when it is unavailable can be installed
on the gateway module.

Production Solution
New software version 0213 in the gateway module.
