Excessive force application, broken by force
Remedy:

Step 1: Check production dateNIN end number of vehicle

On model series 211 (produced up to VIN WDB21102018038511) and on model series 219 (produced up to VIN

WDB2193221A093640) the switches must be replaced.

When replacing, the object numbers listed in the parts list must be used:

Procedure (1 ):

- Open stowage compartment flap

- Loosen bolt T20

- Tilt covering forwards and disconnect connector for partially electric seat adjustment switch.

Pay attention to the catch tabs on the covering!

- Loosen bolts on switch.

- Install in the reverse order.

On model series 211 (produced as of VIN WDB2110201B038512) and on model series 219 (produced as of VIN

WDB 2193221A093641) the optimized switch is installed (recognizable by the visible brass plate inside the switch).

With these switches, proceed as follows:

1. If the two gray pins are undamaged (see picture "Schaller mil intakten Pins und Ersatzteil_ 1.jpg"), the switch button, if intact (i.e. shaft not bent), can simply be pushed back on. You can tell that the pin is damaged by the fact that

the pin pops back to its original position by itself when you push the pin down and release it.

The switch button can be ordered separately if required.

Another function test must be performed in order to rule out any possibility of damage inside the switch unit.

If there is any damage inside the switch unit, the entire switch unit must be replaced.

2. If one or both of the pins is bent, the entire switch unit must be replaced and tested for malfunction.
