Complaint:
Washer fluid indicator is not correct:
Message "Washer fluid reservoir empty" appears in the display of the instrument cluster although the reservoir contains sufficient windshield washer fluid.
In the model series 166, the front SAM fault memory also contains the fault code B23267B (The washer fluid level
sensor has a malfunction. The fluid level is too low).
Cause:
The sensor may not recognize the fill level in the washer fluid reservoir due to insufficient electrical conductivity of the
fluid in the washer fluid reservoir.
Causes for insufficient electrical conductivity:
a) In model series 166 SCN coding may be faulty
b) The use of distilled or deionized water
c) Tap water content of mixing ratio is too low
d) Proportion of washer fluid concentrate is too high
e) Reservoir is frozen'
'If the reservoir is frozen, the message may disappear when the reservoir has thawed out.
Important notes:
2. Al the factory the reservoir is not completely filled with washer fluid, but only to approximatey 1/3 of the capacity of
the reservoir
3. There may be problems with the fill level indicator if aftermarket washer fluid is used, due to the electrical conductivity of the washer fluid.
Remedy:
Fill the reservoir with washer concentrate and tap water at the recommended mixing ratio (see owner's manual).
In model series 166: Repeat SCN coding of front SAM control unit.
Note:
Remedy is not warrantable (except for front SAM SCN coding on Model 166)
It is assumed that the connectors to the washer fluid level sensor are plugged in and functioning correctly.
