SUBJECT:
Front Left Seat Squeak
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves applying Nye grease to the contact points between the inner and
outer seat brackets located near the back of the outboard bracket on the left front seat at
the tip slide mechanism.
NOTE: This repair does not require the removal of the seat and should be completed
w ith the seat in the vehicle.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to 2-Door vehicles only built between May 1, 2012
(MDH0501XX) and May 7, 2012 (MDH0507XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a seat squeak while driving the vehicle or moving in the
seat
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other
customers that describe the symptom/condition , perform the Repair Procedure .

NOTE: Nye Grease pin 05019059AA will service approximately 10 to 15 vehicles.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Position the driver seat in the full forward position (Fig. 1).
2. Pull the easy entry handle and position the seat back in the full forward position (Fig .
1).

NOTE: When the seat back is in the full forward position this will activate the tip
slide mechanism which will rock the seat assembly toward the instrument
panel at the base of the seat in order to gain access to the area of repair.

3. Apply Nye grease to the inboard side of the outboard rail on the tip slide mechanism in
the specified area shown in (Fig. 2).

Return the seat upright and to the full rearward position

NOTE: Be sure that the seat base rocks back toward the floor to ensure that the tip
slide mechanism is disengaged.

Reposition the seat back to the full forward most position cycling the tip slide
mechanism and then returning the seat to the upright and full rearward position twice
after applying the grease.
With the seat occupied, verify the squeak has been eliminated.
Was a squeak still present?
a. Yes>>> Repeat the repair procedure, further diagnosis may be required.
b. No >>> Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
