Service Action: Instrument Cluster Replacement

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: A limited number of XJ vehicles require the Instrument Cluster (IC) to be replaced due to a fault
with a previously replaced Instrument Cluster. These Instrument Clusters require replacement as the vehicle
Air Suspension Unit ‘spikes’ every 99 minutes, causing the Instrument Cluster to stay awake for approximately
30 minutes which may lead to a battery drain.
NOTE: Make sure all key fobs for the vehicle are available prior to commencing the Service
Instruction.
Action: Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control
and refrain from releasing the vehicles pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical
Bulletin.

specific VIN; order via Unipart, requesting an IC with no mileage loaded.

any repairs. Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change;
those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Refer to Repair Times Searcher (RTS) on TOPIx to
obtain the latest repair time.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code 'K134' together with the relevant Option Code from
the table. The SRO and part information listed have been included for information only. The Option Code(s)
that allows for the drive in / drive out allowance can only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the
workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.
This program is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 31 December 2014
closure date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
1.

NOTE: Make sure all key fobs for the vehicle are available prior to commencing the Repair
Procedure.
Record the current vehicle mileage.
2. Replace the Instrument Cluster (refer to Workshop Manual section 413-01).
3. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.
4. Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running).

NOTE: IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD131.08 v.119 or later.
Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.
Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.
Contact the Jaguar Land Rover Technical HelpLine to activate ‘coded access’ (yellow key) for this session.
From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Campaigns'.
Select ‘Run’ to perform the ‘Configure new module - Instrument pack’ option.
Select ‘Run’ to perform the ‘Special applications - Odometer calibration’ option.

• Follow on-screen prompts to enter the current vehicle mileage.
11. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
12. Exit the current session.
13. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
