Complaint:

Equipment items in the electric drivetrain of the smart electric drive 2nd Generation are diagnosed using a special diagnostic testing instrument(Zytek!Tesla).

These include:

a) EVCM/EDCM

b} BMS

c) On-board charger (OBL/OBC)

In order to allow the software to be updated to the latest release in the event of complaints and service measures, the

software files will be made available via smart Tekinfo from now on.

Please make sure that the most up-to-date versions are always installed on your diagnostic units and are used for updates.

Note: If, during diagnosis on vehicles with older software releases (e.g. version '28 1' in EDCM/EVCM), the following

message is displayed, then diagnosis of this software release is not supported by you r diagnostic unit.

Message: ''The con nected ECU contains an unrecognised program version: C507EVCM28 1"

In this case, press OK to acknowledge the message and then launch the EVCM/EDCM update to upgrade to the latest available release (see Remedy -a-). You can then perform control unit diagnosis as usual.
Cause:

The latest software versions (see "Remedy") optimize and eliminate various fau lt profiles.

EVCM/EDCM/OS version 2E 1 (since 11/2012) - Optimized 12V backup, expanded diagnostic data. increased vehicle

availability

EVCM/EDCM/OS version 2D1 (since 05/2012) - Required for 12V backup when veh. is connected to charging infrastructure

EVCM/EDCM/OS version 2B2 (since 12/2011) - Increased vehicle availability, reduced fault messages in IC

OBU OBC version 02 .xx/15.xx (since 11/2011 ) - Changes:

- Solution to fault codes P1C31 and P1 C35 in OBL/OBC

- Solution to startability after charging (only affects Mode 3 charging)

Tesla Firmware Updater Tool (Diagnose-Tool)

- 2.0.8.81 : Required version for updating of BMS/BMB with version 1.3.6 and OBL/OBC with new firmware format

- 1.01.66: Required version for updating of OBL/OBC with software 02.xx/15.xx (includes hardware ID functiona lity)
Remedy:

To access the download area, launch smart Teklnfo => select Daimler Special Tools (see attachments, visit http://

www.smarttekinfo.com/SmartTek/jsp/doclist.jsp) => then click on the link under "document" and download all items listed.

Download the software files from the download area of the After-Sales portal and install them on the Zytek!Tesla diagnostic unit as per the training documents.

All the data are provided as compressed zip archives.

a) For EVCM/EDCM the current software release is = 2E 1

In order to use this software, the relevant files must first be copied onto the diagnostic computer (including the

new/additional file 080.dll).

For installation and the necessary prepara tions to the Zytek diagnostic tool, see TIPS document LI 00.30P-053002

The necessary files can be downloaded from the After-Sales portal (Products & Solutions - Product Information Xentry TIPS - Down loads).

Important: When installing in the vehicle, make sure you select the correct variant (US version or ECE/RoW version)!

b) For BMS the current software re lease is = 1.3.9

In order to use this version, some one-off preparations must be made on the diagnostic computer.

For installation and the necessary preparations to the Tesla diagnostic tool , see TIPS document LI 00.30-P-053003

The necessary files can be downloaded from the After-Sales portal (Products & Solutions - Product Information Xentry TIPS - Downloads).

c) For the on-board c harger (OBL/OBC) the current software release is= 02.xx (predecessor version was 15.xx)

In order to use this version, some one-off preparations must be made on the diagnostic computer.
