Complaint:

Wind noises (whistling) at windshield between approx. 90 and 120 km/h
Cause:

Possible cause: Gap between bumper and chrome surround of radiator trim (picture 1).

To find out whether the gap is actually the cause of the whistling noise, please tape over the transition between the

bumper and the chrome surround using a suitable adhesive tape and perform a test drive (picture 2).

If the wind noise disappears, it was caused by the gap between the bumper and the chrome surround and can be eliminated by gluing foam elements into the chrome surround.

Note: This document does not cover any other reasons for wind noises.

Remedy:

Detach bumper and seal gap between bumper and chrome surround with foam:

Remove bu mp er

Loosen 4 bolts (Torx 10) at top of chrome surround (picture 3)

Carefully remove chrome surround using a wedge (picture 4)

Prepare foam elements (picture 5)

Glue in foam elements between cavities (bonding surface facing down) (picture 6 and 7)

Assemble bumper and reattach to vehicle
