Issue Description:
New design mainshaft sliding clutches are being released to improve shift quality in
the RT and RTO units. The sliding clutches have an increased backlash to allow the
operator a larger synchronous window. The sliding clutch part numbers have changed
but all the mainshaft gearing part numbers have remained the same.

Containment/Corrective Action:
Replace the old mainshaft sliding clutches with the new sliding clutches listed below.
Sliding clutch replacement will be necessary only in the position in which the "hard
shifting" occurs. It is not necessary to change the sliding clutches in all positions.

Warranty Information:
Worn sliding clutch and mating gear teeth is caused by raking shifts and is not
considered a warrantable product defect.
A "hard shifting" complaint must be confirmed by an Eaton
Territory Service Manager
(TSM) for a sliding clutch replacement repair to be covered under warranty.

• 4306647 (1) RTO
• 4306648 (3) RT
• Gaskets, bearings and snap rings damaged upon removal
Warranty Labor:
• Transmission R&R per OEM guideline
• Mainshaft overhaul per OEM guideline (bench labor of 4 hours)
