Breather Heater Adhesion

Description

This TRP is authorizing the field to apply a stronger adhesive to the crankcase breather heater

element and reapply the heater element to the crankcase breather assembly cover on any

ISX15 CM2250 or QSX15 CM2250 Engine where the heater element is separating/separated

from the crankcase breather assembly.
Action

In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:

1. will be covered In the Base Engine Warranty period, and

2. must be on the attached ESN list, and

3. must have the crankcase breather heater element separating/separated from the

After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:

1. Clean the surface area of the crankcase breather cover to remove any dirt, oil or old

heater element adhesive to ensure proper adhesion of the heater element to the

crankcase breather cover. For optimal heating benefit, the heater element should be

located on the lower front portion of the crankcase breather cover near the inlet side of the

crankcase breather. Once the surface area of the breather cover has been cleaned ,

evenly apply Loctite 454 or equivalent to the entire back side of the heater element. Apply

the heater element to the crankcase breather cover. Be sure to apply pressure to the

entire surface area of the element to ensure proper adhesion of the heater to the breather

cover. If the check engine light is on and fault code 3733 or fault code 3734 has logged ,

you must first troubleshoot the applicable fault code before reapplying the heater element

to the breather cover.
Material Disposition

Materials removed as a result of this field action must be scrapped.
