Operation Number Structure for Diagnosis Jobs
On model 901, 902 , 903, 904 , 905 and 906 , these operation numbers are valid as of WIS version
07107 .
These operation codes are grouped together in the respective design groups with the number
range XX-0640 to XX-0999 (see the table below) and are thus always assigned to the system to be
diagnosed .
Generally when starting the diagnosis, operation code (diagnostic operations) "54-1011 Perform
quick test" will be used. After the quick test, the system tests are listed for each design group.
The diagnosis structure following on the quick test depends on whether a fault code has been
stored for the customer complaint. This must be taken into account when preparing an order. If,
during the course of the repair job, a further quick test has to be performed, this is to be invoiced
through operation code diagnosis.
The following application rule always applies to the necessary test operations:
1. Use of the operation code with the ending "O"e.g. XX-0640, XX-0660 , XX-0700 , ... ), if:
no fault code is stored but a reproducible customer complaint is present and further
test operations are necessary
2. Use of operation codes with the ending "1" (e.g. XX-0641 , XX-0661 , XX-0701 , .. .),if:
a fault code has been stored.
3. Common use of the operation code, e.g. XX-0640 and XX-0641 , is only permissible in
justified cases. The reason must be entered into the message field, otherwise the operation
code may be rejected . This would be a unique circumstance.
In the case of engine topicsoperation codes are established for the following individual component
tests under operation code 07-0641"Check separate parts of engine .......... .. . as per fault code" :

The operation codes listed above replace the operation code diagnostic operations 82-0700
"Check communication system (after quick test)".
Telematics diagnosis work which is not listed above should be carried out under operation codes
82-0700 and 82-0701 .
In all other design groups, the structure and procedures for the diagnosis work on control units with
fault codes is shown in the same way.
The operation code 54-1010 "Check electrical system, establish findings" or 82-1015" Establish
diagnosis on the electrical system" are available for diagnosis work, if no special diagnosis
operation code is available within the affected design group. Combination of this/these operation
code/s with test items of the diagnosis structure described is not permissible.
The following operation codes have been added :
54-0645 Check quiescent current consumption
54-0991 Control unit: ........ install software (after quick test)
54-0992 Control unit: ........ code (after quick test)
54-0993 In addionto to control unit: ........ code with manual data transfer
In this case the control unit must be listed together with its designation in order to ensure
unambiguous assignment to the system.
