Jaguar Land Rover has not received any reports of accidents, injuries or fatalities as a consequence of
this issue and has concluded that this condition does not present an unreasonable risk to safety.

Reason for this Field Action

A concern has been identified on certain Range Rover 2013 and 2014 Model Year vehicles and three
Range Rover Sport 2014 Model Year vehicles where the vehicle may not start due to an internal failure
of the battery positive terminal. The vehicle battery located on the battery tray in the rear of the vehicle
is not sufficiently isolated from the dynamic inputs experienced through 'normal' driving. These inputs
result in an internal failure of the battery positive terminal and the vehicle will not start.
Jaguar Land Rover launched field action Q332 to improve battery retention and reduces the vibration
exerted into the battery during a normal drive cycle.
The Japanese Government stated that in accordance with the Automobile Type Approval Handbook for
Japanese Certification 2013 Approval regulation Article 177 (11-2-2-3-177), this condition is
considered to be a field service action and that Jaguar Land Rover should conduct a field service action
to remedy this condition on all unrepaired vehicles .
Jaguar Land Rover's Field Review Committee (FRC) reviewed this concern on April 4, 2014 and it was
concluded that this condition represented a non-compliance in Japan and that a voluntarily noncompliance recall be conducted on all unrepaired vehicles .

tray fitted .
