Due to Warranty Technical Center (WTC) volume constraints, Hyundai Motor
America is requesting dealers to temporarily suspend shipment of the right
front seat cushion to Hyundai's Warranty Technical Center for reprogramming.
Dealers will be notified when they can resume shipments of seat cushions to
the Warranty Technical Center.
As a reminder, Recall Campaign 083 (TSB 08-01-006-1) is to be performed on an
individual customer basis - it is not necessary to reprogram every vehicle's
OCS.
Recall Campaign 083 does not show in the Web DCS Vehicle Information
Screen (VIS). Customers should not be made to believe their vehicle is not
included in the campaign simply because recall Campaign 083 does not show in
the VIS for their VIN.
Please be sure to follow the appropriate steps, based on which of the
scenarios below applies:

Scenario #1:
If the amber colored "Passenger Airbag Off" lamp under the
clock and red airbag indicator lamp in the instrument cluster remain OFF with
the ignition on and a properly seated adult in the right front passenger seat
Dealer Action: No action is required by the dealer. The seat cushion should
not be sent in for reprogramming.

Scenario #2:
If the amber colored "Passenger Airbag Off" lamp under the
clock remains illuminated with the ignition on (vehicle running) and a
properly seated adult in the right front passenger seat.
Dealer Action:
1. Inform the customer that:
We are temporarily unable to perform the campaign
at this time
They will be contacted when the service procedure
their vehicle.

2. Do NOT provide the OCS Customer letter to the customer.
3. Call HMA at 1-855-858-7905 to record each customer that qualifies for
the 083 campaign service procedure. We are further requesting that you
only contact customers to schedule their service visit after receiving
notification from HMA that the WTC can perform the campaign service
procedure.
HMA will contact each dealer to notify them when they can
contact each registered customer on a case by case basis.

Scenario #3:
If the red airbag indicator lamp in the instrument cluster
remains illuminated with the engine running, the vehicle should be diagnosed
before any repair is attempted.
Using the GOS, the dealer should identify
any stored diagnostic code(s) stored in the SRS Control Module and repair
using the applicable procedures described in the shop manual.
However, if
the only diagnostic code(s) stored are B1448, B1449, or B1450, the customer
should be informed that their SRS system remains fully functional with the
exception of the right front passenger seat Occupant Classification System.
With diagnostic code(s) B1448, B1449 or B1450 present, the system will
classify ALL right front passengers as adults and the front passenger airbag
will be enabled at all times.
Dealer Action:
1. Customers should be informed that children and small-statured adults
should NOT occupy the right front passenger seat since the front
passenger airbag is enabled, and they could be injured by the deploying
airbag in a collision.

2. For these vehicles, we have enclosed a letter for you to hand deliver
to each customer at the time that you determine that their vehicle
requires repair action.
The OCS Customer letter informs the customer
that children and small-statured adults should not sit in the front
passenger seat until the repair has been completed.
Please make sure
that the customer understands this requirement.

3. Call HMA at 1-855-858-7905 to record each customer that qualifies for
the 083 campaign service procedure. We are further requesting that you
only contact customers to schedule their service visit after receiving
notification from HMA that the WTC can perform the campaign service
procedure.
HMA will contact each dealer to notify them when they can
contact each registered customer on a case by case basis.

Dear Hyundai Customer:
Your vehicle needs to be repaired in connection with Hyundai Recall Campaign
083. That repair requires that the right front seat cushion be removed and sent
to HMA for reprogramming. Unfortunately, we are unable to perform the repair
procedure at this time. As a result, with your dealer's assistance, we have
recorded your information on a waiting list, and your dealer will call you and invite
you to return to the dealership when they are able to complete the repair
process.
In the interim, please be assured that your airbag system remains fully functional;
however, the right front airbag will not be suppressed by the Occupant
Classification System in the event that a child or small-statured adult is seated in
the front passenger seat. As a result, the front airbag may seriously injure the
front passenger in a collision. Consequently, we strongly request that while you
wait for completion of this repair, you do not allow any children or small-statured
adults to occupy the front passenger seat.
