SAFETY PRECAUTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED ACCORDING TO ACCEPTED INDUSTRY
STANDARDS AND LOCAL/PROPERTY REQUIREMENTS
1. Park the bus on level surface and apply parking brake. Turn engine off.
2. Turn off the main battery disconnect switch.
3. Open the rear engine door.
4. Position the rear run switch to “off” so the vehicle cannot be started while performing this
retrofit.
5. Locate & remove the two clamps fastening the existing Vibol connector (see below). Discard
the Vibol connector & existing gaskets, clamps will be reused during reinstallation.
6. Lift the rear cross seat & secure.

7. Remove the bolts fastening the engine access cover (see below) & remove cover from the
work area.
8. Locate, remove & discard the clamp at the turbo outlet elbow (see below). Inspect the exhaust
elbow, if flange is damaged it must be replaced.
9. Install a new clamp to the turbo outlet elbow & hand tighten.

10. Install Duraflex connector & new gaskets to the location the Vibol connector was removed
using the clamps removed in step 5 (see below). Tighten the clamps to 75 inch lbs.
11. Tighten the turbo outlet elbow clamp to 75 inch lbs.
12. Install the exhaust blanket to the Duraflex connector as shown below (see below). Fasten
using attached clasps, seam should face rear of vehicle.

13. Clean up any debris caused by performing this retrofit.
14. Turn the rear run switch to “normal”, turn on the main battery switch & start the vehicle.
15. Check all affected connections for any exhaust leaks & repair if needed.
16. Turn off the vehicle.
17. Reinstall the engine access cover that was removed in step 7 using the existing hardware.
Tighten the hardware securely.

18. Lower the rear cross seat.
19. Close the rear engine door.
20. Record bus number, mileage and date of completion; return form to Field Service Manager
