Customers have indicated they are not able to read the oil level using the Pushbutton Shift Selector (PBSS). The shifter will skip the oil level check and proceed to
Prognostics.

Chassis Affected
278 T680 and T880s built between 01/29/2013 – 05/19/2014 with Allison 3000 and 4000 series transmissions.

Action
CAMPAIGN
Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list. This campaign can be performed at any time
convenient for the customer (for example: during next scheduled maintenance interval). Use the attached procedure. Review the DWWC or SIR for “Complete” next to the
“27005” campaign code prior to performing this repair.
NOTE: Some chassis affected are so new that Kenworth may not have customers’ names and addresses registered. Please contact your customers or check your lot for
these chassis.

Warranty
Through Standard Warranty (excludes Extended Warranty) or for repairs completed by 11/01/2015, whichever is greater, Kenworth will pay for parts at dealer net plus
applicable mark-up and labor:
1.5 hours labor to add the oil level sensor wire. (Use Quick Claim Code 027-XXX).
File an additional claim for extraordinary circumstance. A quick claim for standard labor must be filed first.

Allison 3000/4000 series oil level sensor overlay harness, wire 116

Part Number

Background
The Kenworth models listed above have been built without a wire for the oil level sensor (OLS) in a portion of the OEM harness. Wire 116 may be present from the
transmission to a bulkhead connector, but it may be missing on the other side of the bulkhead.
The symptoms of the missing wire are:
Inability to check oil level using the Pushbutton Shift Selector (skips to Prognostics).
Very low (e.g. - 6.0 Quarts) or no oil reading for “Oil Level Deviation” in the Data Monitor tab of the Universal Allison DOC ® service tool.

NOTE: When viewing the Calibration Information screen in the Universal Allison DOC ® service tool software, the “Oil Level Sensor” parameter will still show “Autodetect.”
