LSZ13 SUSPENSIONS
LSZ13 SuperChamber™ Conversion Program
SAF-HOLLAND® has determined that there is potential for poor
durability in the axle lift system for NEWAY® LSZ13 Suspensions
built prior to March 1, 2015. This document contains instructions
on how to convert your NEWAY LSZ13® Suspension.
Required Tools:









1/2" Wrench and Socket
Small Pry Bar
250 ft.-lb. Torque Wrench

LOWER 3/4" LIFT
BRACKET LOCKNUT

1. Set the parking brake and install wheel chocks on the
drive axle.
Failure to properly secure the vehicle prior
to commencing work could create a crush
hazard which, if not avoided, could result
in death or serious injury.
2. Lower the axle with the wheels on the ground with
minimal pressure in the suspension air springs.
3. Using a 3/8" wrench, depress the release button on the
SuperChamber™ push to connect fittings to allow the
removal of the 6" jumper tube. Retain the jumper tube.

4. Using a 3/8" wrench, depress the release button on the
SuperChamber™ push to connect fitting to allow the
removal of the 3/8" Superchamber™ air supply tubing.
5. Using a 3/4" open end wrench, remove and retain both
fittings from the installed SuperChamber™.
6. Using a 1-1/8" wrench and socket, remove the upper pivot
3/4" locknuts and flat washers (Figure 1). Retain the flat
washers and place the nuts into the return container.

7. Use a small pry bar to pry the clevis downward to
overcome the return spring force. This will allow the
removal of the lower lift bracket 3/4" bolt and washer.
Retain this hardware.
8. Using a 1/2" wrench or socket remove the upper 5/16"
bolt from the clevis. Remove the clevis pin assembly to
allow the removal of the lower lift bracket. Place the
5/16" bolt with locknut, clevis pin assembly and lower
lift bracket into the return container.

9. Using a 3/4" wrench and socket, remove the two (2) 1/2"
bolts that attach the SuperChamber™ bracket to the upper
control arm. Place the two (2) 1/2" bolts and two (2)
1/2" nuts along with the SuperChamber™ with mounting
bracket and clevis into the return container. Retain the
four (4) 1/2" flat washers.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to return the old SuperChamber™
because it doesn’t have the internal
improvements included in the new
SuperChamber™.

LOWER 3/4" LIFT
BRACKET LOCKNUT

10. Install the new SuperChamber™ with bracket onto the
upper control arm using the two (2) new 1/2" GR 8 bolts
with original washers and two (2) new locknuts. Torque
fasteners to 55 ft.-lbs.
11. Install the new lower lift bracket onto the upper pivot
bolt. Install the 3/4" flat washer with a new locknut and
hand tighten the locknut.

12. Rotate the lift bracket to allow the installation of the new
clevis pin assembly. Install the new 5/16"bolt and lock
washer. Torque 5/16" bolt to 21 ft.-lbs.
13. Use a small pry bar to pry the clevis downward to overcome
the return spring force. This will allow the installation of the
lower 3/4" bolt and 3/4" flat washer into the lower hole
of the lower lift bracket. Install the new nut with original
washer on the lower bolt on the lower lift bracket. Using
the 5° adjustment wedge included in the kit (Figure 3),
torque both the upper pivot and the lower lift bracket
locknuts to 225 ft.-lbs.
14. Using a 3/4" open end wrench, install both fittings into
the top and bottom port on the SuperChamber™. Install
the air supply tubing into the Tee and jumper from the
Tee to the elbow.
15. Using a 3/4" open end wrench, re-install the fittings and
6" jumper tube into the newly installed SuperChamber™.
16. Repeat steps 3 through 15 on the opposite side.
17. Build air pressure on the truck to a minimum of 100 psi. Lift
axle and check fittings for leaks using soapy suds. Tighten
fittings if leaks found at the threaded joints.
18. Remove the wheel chocks from the drive tires.
IMPORTANT: Items from both sides should be in the return
container, two (2) sides illustrated in (Figure 4).
