Product: S26 Gear Pump
Summary: Eaton Hydraulics LLC (“Eaton”) has detected certain manufacturing
inconsistencies with select S26 Gear Pumps manufactured by Eaton between January 1,
2011 – November 1, 2014. These inconsistencies could result in premature system
malfunction and failure in customer applications. Eaton has taken the appropriate steps to
correct the problem by implementing proper containment and corrective action.
Operational Impact: Based on the results of testing and analysis, Eaton has determined
that select S26 gear pumps used in customer applications have the potential for early hour
failure due to disc in spool manufacturing inconsistencies.
Action: Follow the Procedure in this Bulletin to identify any S26 gear pumps within the
affected date code range. Affected product can only be identified by the product number
and date code stamped on the Eaton gear pump flange.
Inventory: If a S26 gear pump is currently in inventory and the date code is within the
affected date code range, return the pump to Eaton for credit.
Installed on Field Equipment:
Steering and Braking Applications: If a S26 gear pump with a specified product
number is currently installed on a piece of equipment in a steering or braking
application within the affected date code range, remove, replace, and return the
affected gear pump to Eaton for credit.
Other Applications: Review all other applications using the S26 gear pump within
the affected date range to determine the need to remove, replace, and return the
affected gear pumps to Eaton for credit.
Affected Date Code Range: Affected S26 gear pump date codes are from January 1,
2011 – November 1, 2014.

How to Read the Eaton Pump Date Code: Date codes are located on the gear pump
flange. See Figure 1:
