1. Add clarifying note to Step 1.

Leader.
Description
This TRP is being issued to address ISX15/QSX15 engine damage resulting from material
delamination of the rod bearing shells. This TRP will cover the engine repair, and in certain
situations, will authorize an engine replacement.
NOTE: This TRP is retroactive and covers repairs made from 17-Oct-2013.
Action
In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:
1. will be covered In the Base Engine Warranty period, and
2. must be on the attached ESN list, and
3. Campaign C1517 must not have been performed.
After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:
Step 1: Inspect the Crankshaft for damage/re-use. Reference service procedure 001-016
Crankshaft within the appropriate service manual.
A. If the Crankshaft does not meet the published re-use guidelines and/or can not be
repaired/cleaned up while still in the block, this TRP will authorize an engine
replacement.
NOTE: Contact RAPIDServe™ Catastrophic for pre-authorization.
B. If the Crankshaft meets the published re-use guidlines or can be repaired/cleaned up
while still installed proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Clean/Polish the Crank Shaft Journals. Please reference Service Procedure 001-016
Crankshaft within the appropriate Service Manual.
Step 3: Replace all upper and lower rod bearing shells. Please reference Service Procedure
001-005 Bearing, Connecting Rod within the appropriate Service Manual.
Material Disposition
Materials removed as a result of this field action must be sent to ReCon.
