Kodiak Front Bed
It has been determined Kodiak model 220RBSL were built with a fold down front bed which is
inadequately supported for its intended use. This service advisory explains how to replace the
front bed platform.
Models Included:

(1) - KRV#407041 – Trim - U-Channel - 1 7/8" x 8' – Black
(1) - KRV#404879 – Trim - Batten - 3.6mm x 3/4" x 96" - F4Star - LN Bev 1S - Thoreau Cherry #03

Tools Required:

- Screw Gun with Square bit
- Caulk Gun

- Tape Measure
- D10 Staple Gun

- 3/8 Drill Bit

REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
ONE:

Remove flip-down bed assembly.

Step 1

Locate the front flip-down bed, and open bed. Remove the mattress from the bed and
return the flip down bed to the stored position (Figure 1).

Pull the sofa into the ‘down’ position. Locate and remove the hinge screws from the
flip-down bed (Figure 2). Set the screws aside to be used later. Discard the hinge.

Pull the flip-down bed from the cabinet and carefully rest on the sofa. Remove both of
the latches from the top of the bed platform (Figure 3). Remove both of the latch
catches from the cabinet (Figure 4) and set the latches and catches aside to be used
later. Discard the bed platform.

Step 4

Measure the base of the cabinet and cut the supplied U-Channel to the measured
length. Cut and remove one leg of the U-Channel (making it an L-Channel) to allow
the trim to cover the front edge of the base cabinet. Apply silicone to the now LChannel (Figure 5) and secure it to the base cabinet with the screws removed from
the hinge (Figure 6).

Measure the height of the wardrobe cabinets (Figure 7) and cut a piece of the
supplied flat trim for each cabinet. Fasten one piece of trim on the front inside edge of
each wardrobe and use putty (Thoreau Cherry) to fill the staple holes (Figure 8).

TWO:

Replace new flip-down bed assembly.

Step 1

Place the bed platform on the sofa (Figure 9). Center the platform between the sofa
arms and spaced 2 1/8” away from the cabinet (Figure 10). Screw the bed platform
hinges to the cabinet.

Aligned the latch and catch assembly with the cabinet face and the bed platform
(Figure 11). Secure one latch to the cabinet face then mark the edge of the bed
platform to locate the catch (Figure 12). Drill a 3/8 Diameter by 1” deep hole into the
edge of the bed platform (Figure 13) to allow the latch to function. Secure the catch
plate to the bed platform (Figure 14). Repeat for the other side.

Verify the new bed platform folds down over the sofa. See Figure 15.
