Product: V2020 Vane Pump
Summary: Eaton Hydraulics LLC (“Eaton”) has detected certain manufacturing
inconsistencies that could result in a product failure with select V2020 vane pumps
manufactured by Eaton between July 17, 2014 to August 19, 2014. A nonconformance
heat treat concern was detected in the drive shaft used in V2020 vane pumps. These
inconsistencies could result in shaft breakage causing pump failure. Eaton has taken the
appropriate steps to correct the problem by conducting containment and root cause
analysis.
Operational Impact: In accordance with Eaton’s internal Quality Operating System;
problem assessment, containment and root cause analysis has been initiated. Based on
the results of extensive testing and analysis, Eaton has determined that V2020 vane
pumps, within the specified date code range, using nonconforming shafts have the
potential for failure in customer applications.
Action: Follow the Procedure in this Bulletin to identify the affected Eaton V2020 vane
pump product. Affected product can only be identified by the date code or serial number
stamped on the Eaton product. If a V2020 vane pump falls within the affected date code
range return the product to Eaton using the Return Material Authorization (RMA) number
provided below.
Inventory: If a V2020 vane pump is currently in inventory and the date code is within the
affected date code range, return the pump to Eaton.
Installed on Equipment in the Field: If a V2020 vane pump is currently installed on a
piece of equipment and the date code is within the affected dated code range, remove,
replace and return the V2020 pump to Eaton.

(17G14Gxxxx) to August 19, 2014 (19H14Gxxxx).
How to Read the Eaton Pump Date Code: Eaton part numbers, date codes and serial
numbers are located on the name plate of the pump. See example below in Figure 1:

Example Shown Above: 28B13 - Pump Built on February 28, 2013
Digits 1 and 2: Day of Month (Ex: 01 = 1st, 02 = 2nd, Etc.)
Digit 3: Month (Ex: A = January, B = February, Etc.)
Digit 4 and 5: Year (10 = 2010, 11 = 2011, Etc.)

Affected product should be tagged “Defective” and returned to:
