Title : Torque change for 5/8 inch rear axle shaft flange mounting stud with cone locks and
flat washer type hardware.

5500i, 5600i, 5900i, 7300, 7400, 7500, 7600, 7700, 8500, 8600, 9200i, 9400i, 9900i, CT630,
CT610, Prostar.
DESCRIPTION
The required torque for 5/8 inch rear axle shaft flange mounting stud hardware has been increased. Torque has been increased to 145 ‐ 175
ft*lbs with both cone lock and flat washer type hardware . This will address the issue of missing or loose 5/8 studs, and leaking gaskets.
SYMPTOM(s)
- 5/8 inch rear axle flange stud missing or loose.
- Rear axle flange leaking due to missing or loose stud hardware.
Customer Complaint(s):
- 5/8 rear axle flange stud missing or loose, and / or axle flange gasket leaking.
ACTION / REPAIR STEP(s)
1) Inspect for missing or loose 5/8 axles shaft hardware (Figure 1).
2) If any loose or missing hardware is found, replace missing 5/8 rear axle flange hardware
3) Re-torque all 5/8 rear axle flange hardware to 145 - 175 ft*lbs using correct torque sequence (Figure 2)
