PROCEDURE

1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the off position.

2. Raise the vehicle.

note:

For information on hoisting and towing of the vehicle, see section 18: hoisting and towing in the Nova

Bus Maintenance Manual. Respect your internal safety procedures. Use appropriate hoisting equipment

for your protection.

3. Open the dust pan located under the engine.

4. Drill a 0.2 in. (5 mm) hole in the portion of the engine cradle facing the front of the vehicle. The hole needs to be drilled

0.4 in. (10 mm) from the top of the center beam as shown in Figure 1.

5. Tap the hole with an M6 × 1 tapping bit.

6. Install the tie mount N57040 face down on the newly drilled hole using N44881-02 bolt. Apply a thin coat of thread locker

on the bolt before installation. See Figure 1.

7. In the holes located on the left and right reinforcement plates, install a tie mount N57043 using N17543 bolt, N11185 nut

and N11183 washer. Tie mount needs to be mounted on the front portion of the reinforcement plate. See Figures 1 and 2.

8. Disconnect the grid heater cable from the relay and all ties holding the cable.

9. Route the cable to the cutout on the street side of the engine cradle. See Figure 1.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to kink the cable during the rerouting into the cutout of the cradle.

10. Remove the tie wrap that connects the linear heat detector (LTD) wire to the grid heater relay cable.

11. Attach the cable to the installed tie mounts using N56339 tefzel cable tie.

 CAUTION:

Position the tie mount on the reinforcement plate in such a way as to avoid contact between the cable

and the cradle.

12. Attach the linear heat detector (LTD) wire to the grid heater cable using N56339 tefzel cable tie. See Figure 3.

Connect the grid heater cable to the grid heater relay using a 22 lb-ft (11 N•m) torque.

Close the dust pan.

Lower the vehicle.

Turn the battery disconnect switch to the on position.
