Title : MaxxForce 11 and 13 Engine Sensor Harness Installation
Applies To : MaxxForce 11 and 13 Engines
DESCRIPTION
Below are the instructions for the Engine Sensor Harness Installation on MaxxForce 11 and 13
Engines.
SYMPTOMS
• Wiring will chafe if the harness is not routed and secured properly. This may cause intermittent electrical
short circuits and / or possible engine shutting down.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: As you are routing the engine sensor harness make sure all electrical connections are getting
connected to the sensors. Verify that the connectors are fully seated and latched by backing off the connector
fully before engaging on to the sensor. The connector should not have any movement in the body assembly
when fully latched to the sensor.
1. Remove old Engine Sensor Harness.
2. Install Large Zip ties in engine Harness Tray (See Figures 1-3)
3. Install sensor harness onto tray and make sure sensor harness is located correctly on tray (See Figure
4)
NOTE: Make sure the ECM connections are oriented in the correct position. Failure to perform this step will
cause the rest of the sensor harness to be out of position.
4. Install 21 pin connector (See Figure 5)
5. Position air lines and breather heater harness on top of engine sensor harness (See Figure 6)
6. Route air lines to air manifold and clip to 21 pin connector mounting bracket (See Figure 7)

7. Position chassis harness and tie strap to sensor harness tray using the 3 tie straps that were installed in
step 2. (See Figure 8)
8. Route engine sensor harness along the front of the engine (See Figures 9 thru 12)
9. Route wiring along the right side of engine (See Figures 13 thru 19)
10. Route engine sensor harness to the back of engine and tie strap to chassis and air compressor air inlet
piping (See Figures 20 and 21)
11. Install ECM mounting bracket and ECM and clip harness (See Figure 22)
12. Connect Service Maxx and view / repair any active fault codes
13. Start truck build air pressure to 120 psi and then shut engine off.
14. Key on truck and using Service Maxx, perform an actuator test. Verify movement of Engine Retarder,
EGR Actuator, and Boost Control Actuator (wastegate).
15. Road test.

NOTE: The Coolant Flow Valve is no longer in used. The coolant control housing still has the flow valve
installed, but does not require any wiring to be routed/connected to the flow valve. The wiring has been
completely eliminated.
