Dear Service Manager:
This letter is to inform you of an expanded Swing-Away potential weld concern (used with ASL-250 Out-Sider®)
that should be addressed immediately. On March 21, 2013 Bruno issued Service Bulletin 57 pertaining to a weld
issue on the Upper Swing-Away arm of the device. At the time Bruno issued Service Bulletin 57 we had not yet
received the field unit to investigate. Bruno took this preventative measure addressing all units that were
produced in the batch that is referenced in the Service Bulletin. As a result of continued investigation, we have
determined that this weld issue could affect a small percentage of ALL of the ASL-16448 & ASL-16502 swingaway units. The issue is not usually visible to the naked eye therefore in the interest of customer safety; we are
replacing all of these swing-away units produced. THIS ONLY AFFECTS THE SWING-AWAY AND NOT THE
ASL-250 Out-Sider LIFT. The action we are asking you to take immediately is:
1. If the unit is installed; please contact your customers. Have them STOP transporting the mobility device
on the unit UNTIL the Swing-Away is removed. Arrange for them to bring the ASL-250 Out-Sider back to
your location and have you remove the Swing-Away. You can install the ASL-250 without the SwingAway and they can use the Out-Sider until the REPLACEMENT Swing-Away arrives for you to install.
2. If there are any Swing-Away units models ASL-16448 or ASL-16502 in your stock, please place all into
quarantine until replacement units and return instructions arrive.
Again, for the convenience and safety of the end user and those around them, we request you contact your
customer immediately. Bruno is working to expedite the replacement Swing-Away units.

DEALER ACTION REQUIRED
Contact your customer and ask them to stop transporting their mobility device until the ASL-16448 or
ASL-16502 Swing - Away is removed. Either remove the Swing-Away and let the customer use the ASL250 without a swing-away until the replacement arrives or remove both and await the replacement.
Once replaced, complete the information requested below and fax this letter to the number indicated.
Bruno will credit $50 to cover labor for Swing-Away removal and replacement. Return instructions with
call tag will be provided with replacement unit.

TOPIC: Replacement of Swing-Away
PROCEDURE:

Tools required: See Instruction sheets
Estimated time: 20 minutes after vehicle enters shop.
If removing until replacement arrives:
1) Run unit platform to ground, Turn unit OFF at key switch.
Remove lift from Swing-Away and disconnect wires
2) Remove Swing-Away from Hitch Module
3) Tag Swing-Away as not to be used
4) Re-apply power to lift, adjust height to the Hitch module and
fasten per instructions.
If replacement has arrived:
1) Run unit platform to ground, Turn unit OFF at key switch.
Remove lift from Swing-Away and disconnect wires
2) Remove Swing-Away from Hitch Module
3) Tag Swing-Away as not to be used
4) Install replacement Swing-Away to hitch module.
5) Reconnect lift wiring and power lift to appropriate installation
height. Lift mount tube should be approximately 12” from
ground. Finish installation per included instructions.

Test functionality of the assembled Out-Sider with SwingAway and explain to the customer why Bruno is making this
precautionary replacement.
