Dear Blue Bird Owner:
Attached is a letter containing information about an Optional Product Improvement
Program 13RG345-8.1L CNG UEGO Update John Deere Power Systems recently released.
This Optional Product Improvement Program affects certain John Deere 8.1L Compressed
Natural Gas engines that are MHDD certified.
If your bus is equipped with a John Deere 8.1L CNG engine you will need to contact your
John Deere Power Systems dealer to determine program eligibility.
Please review the attached letter, issued by John Deere Power Systems, and proceed as
indicated in the letter.

Optional Product Improvement Program 13RG345 – 8.1L CNG UEGO Update (MHDD
Vehicles)
This letter is to inform you that John Deere has implemented an optional program for customers
to upgrade UEGO sensors in 8.1L CNG engines with Medium Heavy Duty Diesel certification at a
discounted cost. When the NTK UEGO sensor becomes contaminated, it often fails in a manner
that could lead to subsequent turbocharger or engine damage. This optional program is designed
to provide customers a low cost upgrade to a Robert Bosch
UEGO sensor with improved control
characteristics. Customers will benefit from an extended UEGO sensor life, improved
turbocharger life, and reduced service parts prices for UEGO sensors.
Through November 1, 2014, customers will receive a $275 discount for the cost of upgrading their
engines from the NTK UEGO system to the Robert Bosch UEGO system.
This update should be completed through authorized John Deere dealers. Please contact the
current owners of record for the referenced engines, and advise them to contact the nearest
authorized John Deere dealer to schedule this update.
