Description Of Change: The fuel injectors utilize increased hardening and wear coating to critical fuel injector parts in order to minimize damage from debris.
Adaptable To: The improvement has been made to
all the fuel injectors. The remanufactured fuel injector
part numbers did not change.
The fuel injectors are adaptable to the above engines
back to first production.
The coated internal fuel injector parts were phased in
throughout 2012, and all improvements were effective
January 2013.

Truck Engine News, SEBD6880, May 2013, “Replacement of the Variable Valve Actuator Assembly at
Overhaul Is Recommended on Certain On-Highway
Truck Engines”. Disregard this article. See the article
that follows. The wording in the first paragraph has
been modified.
The Variable Valve Actuator (VVA) assembly should
be replaced when the engine is being overhauled.
Replacing the VVA assembly eliminates soot buildup
and reduces wear on internal components. In order to
be covered under the Overhaul Protection for Truck
(OPT) or ACERTIFY, the VVA assembly must be replaced. Inspection of the VVA assembly will no longer
qualify for coverage under both programs. Effective
date for this change to OPT and ACERTIFY is July 1,
2013.
Refer to the table below to match the correct serial
number prefix to the corresponding part number.

Turbochargers and Accessories Are Now Used on
Certain High Horsepower C13 Truck Engines”. Disregard the previous article, refer to the article that
follows.
Description Of Change: When ordering the new
high horsepower turbochargers for C13 engines, additional parts need to be ordered to make the proper
repair.
Adaptable To: The new 20R-1176 Turbocharger
Gp is a direct replacement for the existing 357-2110
Turbocharger Gp and the 20R-0579 Turbocharger
Gp for the serial numbers listed above.
Refer to the tables below for the correct part numbers
needed to make the repair.
Note: Failure to install the new turbocharger drain line
can cause the turbocharger seal to fail and pass oil into the air system.
The new parts listed in the tables are adaptable back
to the first production of the above listed truck engines. The change is effective at the factory with the
truck engine serial numbers LEE24965-Up.
