SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE:
• This procedure applies to front power seats only.
• Some 2003 G35 Sedans have a manual front passenger seat that is not included in this bulletin.
Preparation for Side Air Bag Connector Replacement Kit Installation (Sedan and Coupe)
1. Write down all radio station presets.

2. If equipped, write down / record the following customer settings for the ATC (Automatic Temperature
Control) system. (Refer to the Service Manual as needed):
•

Temperature Setting Trimmer

•

Foot Position Setting Trimmer

•

Inlet Port Memory Function

3. Move front seat(s) forward and remove the rear mounting bolts.
4. Move front seat(s) to the full rear position.
5. Adjust the seatback (recline) on front seat(s) to the full forward position.
6. Remove the front mounting bolts for the front seat(s).

NOTE:
• For most vehicles, both front seats should have the above steps performed before disconnecting
the battery cable.
• Some 2003 G35 Sedans have a manual front passenger seat that is not included in this bulletin.

7. Make sure the ignition is OFF and disconnect both battery cables (negative cable first).

8. Wait at least 3 minutes after the battery cables are disconnected.
IMPORTANT: Follow all cautions, warnings, and notes in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) when
working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), such as an airbag.

9. Tip the seat(s) backward as far as possible without
overstretching the seat wiring harness.
•

Driver seat shown, passenger seat is similar.

NOTE: Use covers as needed to protect seats and
other interior surfaces.

IMPORTANT: Follow all cautions, warnings, and notes in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) when

Make sure to perform this procedure on the driver seat and the front passenger power seat.

•

Figures 1a through 5a are used for both the driver seat and the front passenger power seat.

•

Preparation steps should already have been done (see page 4).

1. Look under the seat and locate the SAB connector (see Figure 1a).
2. Remove / disconnect the SAB connector from the mounting bracket.
•

Disconnect / snap loose the connector mounting clip.

•

Cut / remove the mounting clip type tie-wraps.

3. Remove the mounting clip from the SAB
connector.

4. Replace the SAB connector with new connector ends.

• Refer to Side Air Bag (SAB) Connector Replacement on page 22.
• Use Connector Replacement Kit P/N 24009-CM71A.

5. Reinstall the connector mounting clip onto the new SAB connector (see Figure 3a).

6. Install 2 new “mounting clip type” tie-wraps as shown in Figure 3a.
•

Pull the tie-wraps tight against the harness.

NOTE: Make sure the “mounting clip type” tie-wraps are pulled
tight.
•

If the tie-wraps are not pulled tight the terminals may move
within the connector which may lead to an air bag light ON
incident.

7. Mount the new SAB connector on the bracket as shown in Figure 5a.

NOTE: Make sure to perform this procedure on the driver seat and the front passenger power seat.
8. After kit installation, reinstall the seat(s) in reverse order.
•

Torque for seat mounting bolts: 49 N•m (5.0 kg-m, 36 ft-lb)

9. Go to “Final Steps After Installation of Side Air Bag Connector Kits” on page 21.
