Description of Revision: This bulletin replaces the version dated
December 2009. The bulletin is revised to include SAM versions

6.0 and 6.2.
General Information

When replacing a SAM Cab or SAM Chassis, the replacement part number must be compatible with the existing part number and the other cabin CAN ECUs on the vehicle. Use the applicable table in this bulletin to determine compatibility. When a SAM is replaced with an identical part number SAM, use ServiceLink to flash the

correct parameters into the new SAM. When a SAM is upgraded, use the instructions in Service Bulletin 54239 Cascadia Cabin CAN ECU Compatibility to reprogram the replacement hardware.
NOTE:

• An assembly "dash number" is the last three digits in the part number (e.g., A06-00000-XXX). The dash

number for a SAM assembly gets increased when a software update is made. When a major hardware

update is made, the base number (middle 5 digits) is changed.

• When SAM assemblies with the -012 dash number are no longer available, the replacement part is SAM

version 6.2. The compatible assembly part numbers are shown in the tables below.

• Two fuse values have been changed on the assemblies with the -007 (and higher) dash number: the values of F24 and F25 have been switched; F25 is now 10 amps, and F24 is 7.5 amps. When transferring

fuses from a -005 SAM, be sure to use these size fuses for F24 and F25.

• A vehicle with SAM baseline can be upgraded to a midline or highline. A downgrade to a midline or baseline can never be made, even if the vehicle originally had a baseline.

• A vehicle that is upgraded to a SAM 6.2 can never be downgraded back to a SAM 5.4 or 6.0. Even if the

vehicle was originally made with 5.4 or 6.0. Once ServiceLink is used to flash the replacement SAM with

6.2 software, the change to the vehicle is permanent.
