INFORMATION
Some customers may experience various drivability concerns along with an illuminated
Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and reduced engine vehicle speed.
Technician diagnosis finds DTC P0087.
In some cases, normal diagnosis may not identify the root cause for setting this DTC. If
normal diagnosis cannot determine the cause of P0087, follow the below service
procedure information to identify other root cause(s).

The fuel system has been contaminated.
Replace the following parts:

Fuel Sedimenter filter
•
Main fuel filter
•
Eye Bolt (see figure 1)

Supply Pump Bolt w/filter* (see figure

Find the source of the contamination. Drain
the fuel tank, inspect the fuel tank pick up
tube, and the fuel gauge sending unit.
Replace the following parts as necessary:

Fuel tank pick up tube

Reprogram the ECM if the calibration ID is
lower than the one listed in the reference chart
provided in this bulletin.
Road test the vehicle to confirm the DTC does
