PURPOSE:
Early vehicles had extended time during transportation. In the interest of customer satisfaction, Fisker![]()
Automotive (FA) is requesting that all Karma
vehicles referenced on the attached Vehicle Identification
Number (VIN) list receive either a new 12 Volt Battery (depending on particular VIN) or test the installed 12
Volt Battery and if the result is “replace”, install a new 12 Volt Battery to Fisker
specification. This
Campaign will describe the test procedure and the necessary coding for warranty reimbursement. The test
plan is intended to determine the State of Health (SOH) of the 12 Volt Battery while it is installed in the
vehicle without requiring direct access to the 12 Volt Battery. All testing is intended to be performed at
standard operating temperatures using the Midtronics MDX series of testers.

1f. If the Battery is not at least 12.2 volts, connect the positive lead of the battery charger to the B+
positive post at the PDC with Fisker
Special Tool FST9001 — Battery Charging Terminal
Adaptor (to be used for all electrical system testing and charging). Connect the — Negative lead to
the Accessory Power Module (APM) ground terminal.

1g. After charging, allow the battery to stand for 2 hour prior to the test. Do not close the hood or
open the doors during this test to allow the vehicle to enter “sleep” mode. This condition is required
until completion of the test.
NOTE: The test sequence and parameters are intended for the Midtronics MDX series of testers. Fisker![]()
requires a printout of the test results attached to the repair order. The MDX series of testers have ver-
sions with integrated printers. Options displayed will vary by model.

1h. Make a record of the test conditions prior to the start of the test. This data shall include the time
since the vehicle was last operated or charged, the ambient temperature, and any other significant
information including if the battery has been allowed to experience a deep discharge or
overcharging condition.
di. Press and hold Power Button on the device for one second.
1j. Once the self-test has demonstrated that the display is fully functional, press the “Enter” button
to display the setup menus entry screen.
- For Battery Location, select “out of vehicle”
- For Application, select “Automotive”
- For Post Type, select “Top Post”
- For Battery Type, select “AGM Flat Plate”
- For Battery Standard, select “CCA”
- For CCA, select “305”
- During the test, if the meter senses a marginal battery, it will request the ambient
temperature be entered, whether it be above or below 32°F (select temperature range
applicable to the current location of battery).
1k. Upon completion of the test, record the indicated State of Health (SOH);
- “Good Battery”
- “Good — Recharge”
- “Charge & Retest’
- “Replace Battery”
In addition, record the battery resistance and the measured voltage.

Test Results
- If the test results in a “Good Battery” reading, please file a case on Fisker
’s TSS and a warranty
claim on the warranty system only using the code 90-01-01-07 — Campaign 39011019 / Test.
- If the test results in a “Good — Recharge” reading, please recharge the battery and file a case on
Fisker
’s TSS and a warranty claim on the warranty system only using the code 90-01-01-07 —
Campaign 39011019 / Test.
- If the test results in a “Charge & Retest” reading, please prepare the vehicle as described
previously in this document and retest.
- If the test results in a “Replace Battery” reading, please replace the battery in accordance with
the 2012 Karma
Service Manual and file a case on TSS and a warranty claim on the warranty
system using the codes “90-01-01-07 — Campaign 39011019 / Test” and code “90-01-05-07 —
Campaign 39011019 / Replace Battery’.
NOTE: Before installing the new battery, record the serial number of the replacement 12 Volt Battery
(being installed) onto the Repair Order and on the warranty claim form (in the comments section).
