PURPOSE:
All Fisker
Karma
vehicles produced prior to VIN# YH4K14AA9CA001222 were assembled with incorrect
ground locations for the Front Inverter and paint on the mating surface of the bulkhead is causing
insufficient ground connections. This Campaign will be used as a reference guide for technicians to
perform necessary repairs to properly disconnect these ground wires, swap mounting locations, and
remove paint from ground wire mating surfaces on bulkhead.

NOTE: Be sure the Start/Stop Button (SSB) is in the OFF position before going to next step.

Correct Inverter Ground Wiring Locations
2a. Harness ground wire GD3705-2 is installed in the wrong location. Unbolt harness ground
GD3705-2 (Step #2a in photo below) from the bulkhead.
2b. Ground wire GD109 is installed in the wrong location. Remove the nut from the upper righthand stud of Front Inverter, remove the GD109 ground wire from stud (Step #2b in photo below),
and save the nut for reuse.

2c. Enlarge the eyelet hole on ground wire GD3705-2 from 6 mm to 8 mm using a suitable reamer
tool or a 5/16-inch drill bit.
NOTE: If the ground eyelet is damaged during the rework, replace with a suitable 8 mm electrical eyelet.

2e. Attach ground eyelet GD109 to bulkhead (as shown below). Torque the bolt to 8 Nm (Do Not
Over-tighten).
2f. Attach the modified eyelet with enlarged hole (Ground GD3705-2) to the Front Inverter case
stud (as shown below) and torque the nut to 15 Nm.

2g. Unbolt inverter ground eyelet GD107 (referenced in photo below) from bulkhead. De-burr and
remove paint from mating surface between the ground eyelet and bulkhead.
2h. Attach ground eyelet GD107 to bulkhead (as shown below). Torque the bolt to 8 Nm (Do Not
Over-tighten).

2i. Reconnect 12 volt negative battery harness connector C104.
2j. To confirm good grounding has been achieved, check for unwanted voltage drop between
ground GD109 and GD3705-2 (see arrows in photo below) after assembly. If voltage drop is
present, confirm eyelets are touching bare aluminum surface on bulkhead, reinstall, and retest.

placement and ground connections have been fixed.
