Campaign to improve hood lift assist by replacing single torsion bar hinge assemblies with double torsion bar
assemblies, new rubber hold down straps and hood stop cables.

Chassis Affected
127 T440s built between 03/12/10 – 11/04/10 as listed on the attached chassis list.
Note: Not all T440s in this time frame are subject to this campaign. Some chassis have already been
retrofitted with the involvement of Kenworth District Service Managers as this field program was being
developed

Action
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
This campaign can be performed at any time convenient for the customer (for example: during a scheduled
maintenance interval). Use the procedure below. Review DWC or SIR online systems to verify that campaign

“2-119” is still open or already completed prior to performing this repair.

Warranty
Kenworth will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up and 3.8 hours labor. Use Quick Claim 02119. This program applies to repairs completed by 12/01/12, regardless of chassis time in service or mileage.
Note: Warranty reimbursement includes 1.0 hr for machine work on an OE bracket as described in the
Procedure. Dealers may elect to undertake this portion of work in house or by sublet to a local machine
shop. Reimbursement of 1.0 hr at the dealership retail labor rate applies to either dealership decision. Do not
add sublet invoices to the Quick Claim schedule, following.
