TITLE:
Modification to the HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Condition) assembly drain tubes.
Note: The information contained within this bulletin replaces that previously contained within Technical
Service Bulletin TSB 2010/03. Please discard any copies of that bulletin that you may have on file.
REASON:
The one-way valves located within the ends of the HVAC drain tubes were intended as an exit route
for water ingressed into the unit via the inlet duct or as a result of condensation collected below the air
conditioning evaporator, whilst at the same time restricting airflow and dirt from entering the HVAC unit
via this same tubing.

It is possible that the force required behind the valves to open them may be too great which could lead
to the drain tubes becoming blocked, which, in extreme cases this can lead to:
-- Reduction in the effectiveness of the HVAC systems demist function.
-- Unpleasant odours emanating from the heater ducts.
-- Water ingress into the passenger compartment from behind the footwell fuses via the recirculation
intake vent.

A running change has been implemented as from ‘11MY VIN BH_12527 resulting in these one-way
valves no longer being fitted.
ACTION:
If you are presented with a vehicle prior to this VIN exhibiting any of the above conditions, then carry
out the following action:
1. Remove the front undertray.
2. Identify the two or four convoluted drain tubes (as fitted) from the HVAC unit, see illustration on
page 1.
3. Holding one of the drain tubes, and using a pair of long nose pliers, grip the end of the rubber oneway valve protruding from its end and carefully pull out the valve and discard it.
4. Repeat this operation on the remaining drain tubes.
5. If the vehicle is prior to 2010 model year VIN. AH_41065 and TSB 2010/03 has not been carried
out, then cut each drain tube so that it terminates around 10mm above the level of the undertray.
6. Clean out any dirt/debris that may have collected within the tubes or allow any water to drain out
as necessary.
7. If not already done so, ensure the tubes (one or three as originally fitted) from the fan housing are
routed in a downward direction ahead of the anti-roll bar, and tie wrap to either the steering rack
mounting bracket or HVAC bracket (see illustration on page 1).
8. Refit the front undertray.

Claims for 0.5 hr/car may be submitted quoting Operation Code 18.01.04 - 07, ‘A’ code 05, ‘B’ code 37.
