SITUATION:

OIFFERENTLAL ALIGNMENT VERIFICATION REQUIRED

The front diffarential myst ba mounted in ihe aptimum position relative ta the transfer box front qutput
flange or premature wear may occur to the propeller shaft and the driva tube splines.

RESOLUTION:
INSPECT UNSOLD VEHICLES FOR PROPER DIFFERENTIAL ALKSNMENT

inventory must have thie work performed prior to customer delivery. Ahvays check the under
hood area for a label and the AS400 to ensure that action has not been previously completed.
Action required on sold vehicies will be advised at a later dete.

Check the alignment of the ciferential to the transfer box output flange and align if neceseary.
Vehicles in VIN range 34107657 to 34133309 abso require the application of grease (TL4500010} to
the drive tube eplinas. Refer to the table below to ansure the comect work ie cartied out on the
vehicle.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT AND LUBRICATE IF REQUIRED
1. Position vehicle on iit
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.

BANE CAUTION: After switching off the Ignition, walt
two minutes before diaconnecting the battery. Fallura
to walt two minutes will damage the navigation
computer. Refer to RAVE Genera information,
Electrical Precautions, Battery disconmeaction.

3. Position the vehicle on a lift

4. Raige vehicle to give a wheel free condition to alk the
propevier shait to rotate.

5. Remove sit nuts and bolts securing the drive flange and
front propeller shaft to the coupling (Figure 1).

6. if the vehicle is within VIN range SA107967 to
34133309, reannove tha propeller shaft and ré-grease the
splines as follows:

® Scribe a reference mark on the front differential and the
front propedier shaft to aid reassamtly.

« $lide the propeller shaft forvarde ang remove the
coupling and the centering flange.

« 88a the propetter shaft rearwerds and remove the
propeller shail from the drive tube.

WAG caution: Af grease must be removed priar to
application of new grease.

I * Thoroughly clean the cifferendal drive tuba xplines
A’ in Figure 2) and the propeller shaft splmes.

! CAUTION: Use ONLY grease TIASO0010. Use of
any other grease or lubricant will regutt in pramatura
pling wear.

j «= Evenly dietdbute all grease In the packet onto the
propeler shaft splines and tha drive tube splines.

« Align the sqribes marks and instell tha propelfer shaft Into
the differential drive tuba.

® Slide the propeller shail forwards and fit the centering
flange (A in Figure 3) to the propeller shaft

« Secure the centering flange with a nut and bolt
{'B' Figure 3).

FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT INSTALLATION

1. Slide the propeller shaft forwards and remove the nut and boit securing the centering flange to
propeller shaft

Remove the centering flanges.
Clean the coupling and the centering flange mating faces.

4. Position the coupiing and flange with amas on coupling
pointing towards the flange mounilng {Figure 10}.

6. Inetall bolts securing the coupling and tighten to 110 Nim
{81 Ibf.ft).

Lower the vehicte onto Its wheels.
Lower the [ft
8. Connect the battery ground cable,

CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION

f\note: Campelgn labels may hews multiple Campaign numbers written on them if multiple
campaigns are performed at the same time.

1. Wihen all specifiad repairs have been accomplishet,
prepare ihe campaign label {LRNGOGZLABEL) 46 follows:
a) Place the label on 4 hard surface.

bD) Lise a ballpoint pen to neatly write/scribe In the bare
aluminum areas of the label the following Information:

* Campaln code “H121*
= ‘Your retailer code
* Tha date of repair
2. Clean all grease and dit from the radiator support member.

3. Peel the completed campalgn kabel from the backing paper
and position it on the cleaned area.

4, Roll the labal with the special roller tool to ergure proper adhasian,
