SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE: Use appropriate covers to protect upholstery, carpet, etc. when perfonning the
following procedure. _™

1. Remove the A/T shift knob by tuming it counter-clockwise (see Figure 2).

2. Remove the A/T shift selector bezel as follows:

a. Use a plastic pry tool to Carefully release the bezel securing clips at the four comers
(see Figure da & 3b). | ™

b. Lit the bezal up to remove it (sea Figure 3c}.

3. Remove 4/T selector quide as follows:

@. Move the A/T selector guide illumination lamp wires out from under the wire guide
__-bin (see Figure 4a).

b. Lift up on the A/T selector guide to "snap" loose the four (4} retaining clips, one at
each comer,

¢. Lift the A/T selector quide up and over the A/T shiit lever (see Figure 4b).

d. Reposition the A/T selector guide on the driver's side of the center floor console
(see Figure 4c).

4. Remove the Sliding Plate by jifting it up and over the shift lever (see Figure 5).

5. Clean any maternal, such as soda, that may have been spied on or in the shift selector.

6. install a new indicator assembly Sliding Plate—ibsted in ihe Parts Information
(see Figure 5).

CAUTION: Make sure the Sliding Plate is installed in the corect direction: “F" towards the

front, “R” towards the rear.

6. Reinstall the A/T selector guide.
@. Confirm the shift selector is in the "P” position

b. Position the A/T selector guide over the A/T selector lever and just above the Sliding ~
Pilate.

c. Thread the Sliding Plate through the siding guide opening on tha front of the A/T
selector quide (see Figure 6).

d. Snap the A/T shift selector guide back Into Ite original position.

7. Make sure the shift selector moves smoothly to aach position.
8. Fe-install the A/T shift selector bezel

9%. Apply a few drops of High Temp High
Strength Threadiocker Red to A/T shilt
selector lever threads (see figure 7).

10. Reinstall the Shit Knob.
