INFORMATION

Subject: Service Procedure Available For Rear Fasclas Theat May Become
Distorted/‘Warped When In High Amblemt Temperatures

Models: 2000-2002 Cadillac DeVille

A distorted or warped rear fascia may appear after the
vehicle has been exposed to high ambient
tamperatures. This condition is more prevalent on
darker colors.

The repair of this condition will require replacing the
rear fascia and using the service procedure provided jn
this bulletin.

The purpose of the sence procedure Is to provide
room for the fascia to expand and contract by enlarging
the fascia attachment points. This procedure was
developed in order t minimiza the passibility of the
new rear fascia bacoming distorted or warped.

Service Procedure

1. Remove the rear fascla from the vehicls. Refer ta
Fascia Replacement-Rear Bumper in the Bumpers
sub-section of the Sarvica Manual.

2. Place the NEW fascia on a clean fist surface.

3. From the top surface of the fascia that goes undar
the tall lamp assembly when the fascla |s Installed,
remove 2 rivets from each end of the new fasta,

« Using a 3mm (1/8 in) arill bit, carefully drill
through the canter of the rivet.

* Use a 6mm (4 In) drill bit te remove the rivet
head.

® Use a driftfpunch or similar tool to ramove the
rivet body.

* Remove any cabris from between the fascia
and the mounting bracket.

4, Install the new rear fascia te the vehicle.

4.1. Heter to Fascia Reaplacenant-Rear Bumper
in tha Bumpers sub-section of the Sarvice
Manual. Perform Stape 1-4.

4.2, Install the four 10 mm fascia attachment
nite in order to sécure the rear fascla to
the vahick.

Tighten
Tighten tha 4 fascia attachment nuts
toe 2 N-m {18 Ib In).

4.5. Complete the rear fascia installation.
Refer to Fascla Replacement-ARear Bumper

in the Bumpers eub-saction of the Service
Manual. Parform Steps 6-12.
