THERE WAS NO SAFETY CHAIN BEHIND THE COUPLER, HAD THE WELD FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY, THE BOAT AND TRAILER WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY FREE, WITH HIGH RISK OF DEATH, INJURY, OR SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE TRAILER (STILL PARTIALLY CONNECTED) DROPPED ONTO THE SPARE TIRE UNTIL I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER. THE BOAT AND TRAILER HAD TO TOWED HOME. I HAD JUST PERFORMED A SAFETY INSPECTION 30 MILES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, I NOTED NO DAMAGE, THE TRAILER WAS FISHTAILING A BIT IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, AND I STARTED LOOKING FOR A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER.

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM FOR A FEW WEEKS. I TOOK MY CAR FOR A RECALL FOR SOMETHING ELSE ON JUNE 24, 2016 AND I MENTIONED TO THEM ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE.
