REPORTEDLY THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND VALUE PURGE CONTROL, BOTH WHERE REPLACED. IN JUNE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, BUT THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED IT BE RETURNED TO THE DEALER DUE TO METAL SHAVINGS SEEN IN THE TANK. KIA RECENTLY ISSUED A WARNING ABOUT CHANGING THE OIL AS RECOMMENDED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, YET THE OIL SEEMS TO EVAPORATE AFTER 1200 MILES. THIS IS PROBLEMATIC AND HAZARDOUS BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER ILLUMINATED WITH ANY OF THE NOTED ISSUES.

I VISITED THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY WEBSITE AND FOUND A RECALL THAT MATCHED THE SYMTOMS I DESCRIBED ABOVE. I CONTACTED MY AUDI DEALER AND THEY INDICATED A FIX FOR THAT RECALL WAS COMPLETED IN 2016 ON MY VEHICLE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED BUT IT SEEMS IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE AUDI SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE FUEL FLANGE AND VARIOUS OTHER ITEMS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. AS THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM AND THE CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN UNTIL REPAIRED I AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR AT SUBSTANTIAL EXPENSE.
