Summary of Complaint
I PURCHASED 2 MOTORCROSS HELMETS FROM A SELLER ON EBAY (SELLER NAME = SHINEYANGTANG OUT OF ILLINOIS) AND RECEIVED THEM YESTERDAY. LESS THAN 45 MINUTES AFTER REMOVING THEM FROM THE BOX, I BECAME NAUSEOUS AND HAD A WICKED MIGRAINE -- THIS IS A DIRECT RESULT FROM THE ODOR THAT WAS EMANATING FROM THE HELMETS -- IT SMELLED LIKE VERY STRONG GLUE. I THEN PUT ALL OF THE PACKAGING AND HELMETS OUTSIDE AND WENT TO LAY DOWN FOR A FEW HOURS (NOTE THAT THE NAUSEA AND MIGRAINE LASTED A TOTAL OF 8 HOURS). MY HUSBAND GOT HOME 5 HOURS AFTER I PUT EVERYTHING OUTSIDE, HE STOOD OVER THEM FOR LESS THAN 2 MINUTES AND IMMEDIATELY BECAME LIGHTHEADED (NOTE THAT THIS IS A MAN THAT DEALS WITH CHEMICALS ALMOST DAILY AT HIS JOB AND HE NEVER GETS LIGHTHEADED). HE ALSO PICKED UP ONE OF THE HELMETS AND PIECES OF IT STARTED COMING OFF. IF I OPENED THAT BOX, PUT THE HELMET ON AND WENT FOR AN ATV RIDE, THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WOULD HAVE PASSED OUT IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES FROM BREATHING IN THAT SMELL. I ALSO HAVE MANY DOUBTS THAT WITH THE WAY THE HELMET IS COMING APART JUST FROM PICKING IT UP, THAT IT WOULD DO ANYTHING IN A CRASH. I PURCHASED THESE HELMETS FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD STEP-DAUGHTER AND NIECE AND AM HORRIFIED TO THINK OF WHAT COULD OF HAPPENED IF THEY WERE THE ONES HOME WHEN THESE WERE DELIVERED -- IF THEY PUT THESE ON AND WENT OUT FOR A RIDE, WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, THE MANUFACTURER IS WOW (WORLD OF WONDER) -- THE LABEL ON THE INSIDE OF THE HELMET DOES NOT HAVE ANY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION OR THE MAKE OR MODEL, NOR DOES THE USER'S MANUAL THAT CAME WITH IT.
