Summary of Complaint
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB 4X4, ALL OEM, NO AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT. I AM HAVING A PROBLEM VERY SIMILAR TO THE TOYOTA PRIUS BRAKING ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. WHEN IN THE SITUATION I HAVE TO DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND ONTO LESS STABLE SURFACE, GRAVEL, I CAN'T STOP!!!!!! YES, I REALIZE THE ROAD SURFACE IS NOT STABLE USUALLY GRAVEL. BUT THE TRUCK DOESN'T SLOW DOWN WHILE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE BOOSTER IS HUMMING. I LIVE ON A SINGLE LANE ROAD AND WHEN AN ONCOMING CAR IS APPROACHING I HAVE TO DRIVE OFF OF THE PAVEMENT AND ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. IN THIS SITUATION IT IS USUALLY A SURPRISE AND YES I AM APPLYING THE BRAKES BUT THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. I TRIED MY WIFE'S HONDA CRV IN THE SAME LOCATION ON THE SHOULDER OF THE SAME SPOT ON THE ROAD. THE HONDA CRV STOPS LIKE IT SHOULD. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER THIS PAST WEEK AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE I AM EXPERIENCING. THEY TRIED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND CHARGED ME LABOR TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE TOYOTA DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCKS BRAKING SYSTEM. THE TIRES ARE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE JUST REPLACED 6 MONTHS AGO, ABOUT 6K MILES, ON OEM STYLE TIRES. THIS MORNING I JOINED A TOYOTA TACOMA FORUM TO SEE IF OTHER TACOMA OWNERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. YES, THERE IS OTHER TACOMA OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR TOYOTA TACOMA'S. HOW DO WE GET THIS MESSAGE TO TOYOTA THAT THEIR TACOMA'S ARE DANGEROUS? SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET INJURED OR KILLED THE WAY THE TRUCK IS. I WILL NOT LET MY FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVE MY TRUCK UNTIL I HAVE RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA NEEDS TO KNOW THAT THERE IS A BRAKING SYSTEM ISSUE WITH THE TOYOTA TACOMA AND THAT THE FLOOR MAT REPLACEMENT WILL NOT FIX IT... I HAVE NOT HAD A CRASH YET BUT A CRASH IS IMMANENT THAT I WILL BE IN A SITUATION THAT I CANNOT STEER OUT OF. PLEASE HELP!!!! THIS TRUCK IS DANGEROUS!!!!! *TW
