Summary of Complaint
I PURCHASED A PAIR OF TUBULAR UPPER A FRAMES FOR MY PERSONAL VEHICLE WHICH WAS MANUFACTURED BY DJM SUSPENSION 580 WEST 184TH STREET GARDENA CA 90248. THE BOLTS/NUTS THAT HOLD THE BALL JOINTS TO THE A FRAMES DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT GRADE RATING FOR THEIR APPLICATION. TYPICALLY ON VEHICLE SUSPENSION PARTS THE US AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY USES GRADE 8 RATED BOLTS/NUTS FOR STRENGTH AND RELIABILITY. GRADE RATED BOLTS ARE EASILY IDENTIFIED BY THE MARKINGS ON THE BOLT HEAD. THE BOLTS INCLUDED WITH THIS PRODUCT ARE MARKED TO BE RATED AT CLASS 10.9 BUT THE NUTS INCLUDED ARE CLEARLY NOT RATED TO THE SAME LEVEL AS THE BOLTS ARE MARKED. THUS THESE BOLTS/NUTS FAILED TO PROPERLY RETAIN THE BALL JOINT TO THE A FRAME WHILE UNDER SPRING PRESSURE. THESE FAILED ON MY VEHICLE BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE REASSEMBLED, AND OR DRIVEN. THE CONCERN HERE IS FOR THE LESS EDUCATED CONSUMER OF THIS PRODUCT WHO BUYS THESE AND HAS THE FRONT SUSPENSION FAIL WHILE DRIVING ON A PUBLIC STREET. I RESOLVED THE PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE BY GOING TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED QUALITY GRADE 8 FASTENERS TO REPLACE THESE. I'M NOT SEEKING ANY MONETARY/COMPENSATION FROM THIS ISSUE. I'M JUST TRYING TO "DO THE RIGHT THING" BY RAISING AWARENESS AND MAKING THESE PARTS SAFER. HOWEVER WHEN I TRIED CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY. THEY WERE EXTREMELY UNWILLING TO HEAR ANYTHING I HAD TO SAY, OR TO SEE MY EVIDENCE OF THIS COMPLAINT. I SAVED THE FAILED FASTENERS INCLUDED WITH THESE A FRAMES AND TOOK A VIDEO SHOWING THE FAILED FASTENERS AS THEY WERE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE, AS PROOF TO MY CLAIM. *TR
