Condition

During diagnosis a technician may find DTC P0300 (Engine Misfire Detected) and/or a specific cylinder
DTC such as P0300, P0301-P0306
This code may be active or stored in history.

Cause

Unknown at this time

Correction:
2017 Lacrosse:
If this is the first time in for a P0300 or P0304 misfire in history on Cylinder 4 clear code(s) and drive the vehicle in the same conditions
the customer described to set the code originally.
If this is the concern then do not replace any parts at this time.
Document on the repair order what driving conditions were present when the MIL light illuminated.
Engineering is aware of this specific condition and is working on a solution.
If this is a repeat concern, follow eSI diagnostics.

2017 XT5:
If this is the first time in for a P0300 or P0306 misfire in history on Cylinder 6, Clear the code(s) and drive the vehicle under the same
conditions the customer described to set the code originally.
If conditions are unknown on XT5 only, from a cold start with one to three mile drive to a highway, then a heavy acceleration to merge
into traffic may result in the misfire condition.
If this is the concern then do not replace any parts at this time.
Document on the repair order what driving conditions were present when the MIL light illuminated.
Engineering is aware of this specific condition and is working on a solution.
If this is a repeat concern, follow eSI diagnostics.

2016 and 2017 All Gen 2 HFV6 Vehicles:
If this is the first time in for a P0300, P0302 or P0305 misfire in history replace the Rocker Arm Oil Control Valve (OCV).
After OCV replacement, command the oil pump to high pressure mode to ensure misfires do not come back.
If misfires continue, perform normal misfire diagnosis on ignition and injection systems per eSI.
If no cause is found, remove the cam cover on the affected bank and inspect for a rocker concern.
To ensure that the rocker is working as designed, turn the engine over by hand and make sure all rockers move to the point of
opening all rockers.
Replace and or repair the rockers and lifters as needed.
