Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with the motorcycle models and years listed above. Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. had previously sent you a letter dated 10/1/2021 that informed you to have the mounting of the retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper checked for proper mounting due to the possibility that the clips can unfasten and fall out and get lost while riding. Now we have announced this new recall that replaces the prior recall on your motorcycle. Instead of having the originally mounted brake pad retaining “R” clips inspected they must now be replaced with the new version retaining “R” clips. They must be mounted on the front brake and also the rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins. The brake pad securing pin retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper must be replaced on all affected motorcycles to prevent the possibility of the front brake retaining “R” clips unfastening and falling out and getting lost while riding. The brake pad retaining “R” clips on the rear brake caliper must also be replaced at the same time during this repair for consistency on the motorcycle and to prevent the mixing up of retaining “R” clips by equipping the motorcycle with like clips on both the front brake and rear brake caliper. On affected motorcycles there is a possibility that the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper can unfasten and fall out and get lost while riding. This can result in the front brake pad securing pins being lost which could reduce front braking performance and possibly lead to an accident, injury and/or consequential property damage. To remedy this defect, it is necessary to have the brake pad retaining “R” clips on both the front brake and rear brake caliper replaced by an authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer before it is operated. It is mandatory that you discontinue riding your motorcycle until the defect has been repaired by an authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer. If you are unable to transport your motorcycle to your nearest Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer, please contact Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. Customer Relations at (888) 985-6090 to discuss options for the transportation and repair of your motorcycle. The transportation and repair will be conducted with no cost to you. Please contact your authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles Dealer (log onto www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com for a complete dealer listing) as soon as possible to arrange having the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake and rear brake caliper replaced. It is suggested that you call your local authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles Dealer to make an appointment to have the recall repair performed. The procedure will take approximately 15 minutes. However, it may be necessary to leave your motorcycle with the dealer for a longer period of time depending on their work schedule. Please present a copy of this letter along with your motorcycle to your local authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer. There will be no charge for this service. In the effort of continuous product development and safety the originally mounted brake pad retaining “R” clips must replaced with the new version retaining “R” clips and they must be mounted on the front brake and rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins. On the following pages are the instructions for replacing the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake and rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins. On affected motorcycles there is a possibility that the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper can unfasten and fall out and get lost while riding. This can result in the brake pad securing pin being lost which could reduce front braking performance. For this reason and to ensure the highest level of safety, performance, reliability and customer satisfaction, the brake pad securing pin retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper must be replaced on all affected motorcycles. The brake pad retaining “R” clips on the rear brake caliper brake pad securing pin must also be replaced at the same time during this repair to prevent the mixing up of retaining “R” clips by equipping the motorcycle with like clips on both the front brake and rear brake caliper to have a unification of the “R” clips. Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. is notifying all registered owners of the 2022 model motorcycles listed on page 1 by mail. A copy of the customer letter is included in this bulletin. The customer should take the letter along with the affected motorcycle to an authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles Dealer to have the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake and rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins replaced. Dealers must replace the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake and rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins on all affected 2022 model motorcycles listed on page 1 in their inventory prior to any customer delivery. Any of the affected 2022 model motorcycle received directly from Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. require the replacement of the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake and rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins prior to customer delivery. Affected motorcycles acquired through dealer transfers or trades must be remedied and checked in Husqvarna Dealer.net to ensure and document that the repair has been performed. Motorcycles that are affected must not be sold or operated until the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake and rear brake caliper brake pad securing pins are replaced as described in this bulletin. It is a violation of Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. policy for an authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer to deliver any affected units to customers before the procedure in this bulletin has been performed. Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. must report to the federal government on a regular basis how many motorcycles have been inspected and repaired during this campaign. The brake pad retaining “R” clips of the front brake caliper must be mounted in opposing directions. The outer retaining “R” clip must be inserted from the front, the inner retaining “R” clip from the rear as shown in Figure 2. 2. Warranty Claims will only be processed after the replaced parts have been received. Parts must be tagged and include a copy of the claim. VEHICLE LOCK INFORMATION: Unsold motorcycles that are linked to this recall are locked in the vehicle history. The vehicle lock prevents the motorcycle from being retailed to a customer before the recall is performed. In order to unlock the vehicle, you must perform the recall and then submit a TI claim.
