If the vehicle does warn the driver that the brake interlock is engaged, the rear brakes may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire or crash.

Summary
Proterra, Inc. (Proterra) is recalling certain 2019 Catalyst buses. A body controller software update may have disabled the audible and visible warnings that notifies the operator that the brake interlock could be engaged.
Remedy
Proterra will notify owners, and dealers will update the body controller software, free of charge. The recall began January 16, 2020. Owners may contact Proterra customer service at 1-864-438-0000.

On December 9, 2019, Proterra Inc determined that a potential defect relating to motor vehicle safety existed in the body controller software that disabled the audible and visual warnings that the brake interlock could be engaged in certain 2019 Proterra Catalyst vehicles. Proterra filed a report in accordance with 49 CFR Part 573 on December 9, 2019. Proterra is furnishing notification to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that 100% of the vehicles identified as part of this recall have been remedied as of January 16, 2020 and no owner notification will go out for this recall.
